Taking responsibility
We take pride in being a responsible company. So much, that we consider it to be as important as our collections themselves. We work within the standards of the UN global compact - the world’s largest voluntary corporate social responsibility initiative. We work closely with our trusted suppliers to become better together and to uphold the strict standards for people and our planet including human rights, labour and environment.
OUR SUPPLIERS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
At Modström, we prioritize ensuring that our clothes are produced under proper and ethical conditions. We maintain a strong relationship with our suppliers and subcontractors by informing and guiding them about our values and principles. We have great confidence in our suppliers and aim for long-term collaboration. Should any supplier fail to adhere to our principles, we take immediate action to help them optimize their processes to comply with our standards. In cases of serious breaches of Modström's Supplier Code of Conduct, we do not hesitate to terminate the collaboration.
We have a clear stance on working conditions: we do not tolerate forced labour or child labour, and we insist on safe and healthy conditions for all workers.

Un global compact
We support the UN Global Compact and their 10 global accepted principles on human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. By supporting the largest voluntary corporate social responsibility initiative in the world, together with thousands of other companies, Modström can make a difference and ensure even more responsibility in the fashion industry, than we can on our own. Production
Our contracts with suppliers include strict clauses to ensure that clothes are produced without endangering the health of our consumers. This means prohibiting the use of hazardous chemicals and ensuring no workers are exposed to potentially harmful substances. We stay updated on regulatory changes regarding chemical use and immediately inform our suppliers of any updates. We also expect our suppliers to comply with all relevant regulations in their respective countries.
Land of hope
A case very close to our heart is Land of Hope founded by Anja Ringgren Lovén. It is voluntary non-profit organization fighting for children's rights, especially focusing on putting an end to the accusations of witchcraft particularly directed at children in Nigeria. Modström has since 2014 sponsored a Child Development Officer and a Nurse to the Land of Hope orphanage in Nigeria.
Animal welfare
Modström does not tolerate and does not use down and feathers plucked from live animals. All down in Modström's collections is certified by the Responsible Down Standard, ensuring basic animal welfare and promoting education among industry suppliers.
Animal welfare is crucial for anyone involved in the production, purchase, or use of leather. To support responsible leather manufacturing, Modström joined the Leather Working Group (LWG) in 2021. The LWG's Animal Welfare Group informs their standards and guidelines, reinforcing our commitment to ethical practices.
