At Modström we are committed to continuous improvement in every choice we make.
As we design new and upcoming collections, we are actively thinking about
company responsibility and ESG principles.
Below, learn about our preferred fibers, chosen for their positive social, environmental, and ethical impacts.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose fibers
We have been using LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose fibers in our collections since 2019. LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers are derived from controlled or certified wood sources. The fibers are made with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption compared to generic viscose*. *Results based on LCA standards (ISO 14040/44) and available via Higg MSI (Version 3.7). LENZING™ and ECOVERO™ are trademarks of Lenzing AG
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are derived from controlled or certified wood sources. The fibers are made from a resource-saving, closed loop production process*. *Savings consider solvent recovery. Modström has included models with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers in its collections since 2020. TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG
Organic Cotton
Organic fibers are natural fibers grown without synthetic pesticides and GMOs. This more sustainable production process helps support ecosystem health, biodiversity, and the well-being of the people involved in the production process.
Recycled Textiles
While materials like virgin polyester are produced from oil, recycled polyester fibers can be derived from plastic bottles, rejected garments, and production leftovers.
Modström’s choice to prioritize recycled fibers reduces energy consumption, water usage, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Members of the Leather Working Group
We are members of the Leather Working Group, a not-for-profit organization made up of stakeholders from across the leather value chain.
Certified suppliers are audited continuingly against the world leading LWG Standard, evaluating water and energy usage, waste and chemical management, health and safety, etc. A Gold-Rated status is assigned to the suppliers showing continuous high performance, and all certified suppliers are rated according to LWG’s standards and best practices.
By sourcing leather from LWG certified suppliers, we support environmentally responsible practices in the leather supply chain and inform customers of their ethical purchasing decisions.
